Men’s Tennis Suffers First Home Loss of Season

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss men's tennis fell to No. 11 Georgia, 5-2, suffering its first home loss of the season on Friday night at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
Before the matchup, No. 19 Ole Miss (15-5, 3-5 SEC) was 10-0 when playing in Oxford. However, after Georgia began the match by taking the doubles point, the momentum was then carried over to singles for the visitors.
In singles play, the Bulldogs (12-5, 5-4 SEC) won three straight singles courts to clinch the match. Ole Miss would manage to add two points in the final three matches, which were played out. Matthieu Chambonniere picked up a ranked singles win, for he defeated No. 38 Will Jansen, 6-1, 7-5.
Noah Schlagenhauf then followed, adding Ole Miss's second match point after he defeated Derrick Chen, 6-4, 3-6, 10-1. Cutting the match to 4-2, before the Bulldogs would win the final singles court.
The Rebels will travel to Oxford on Friday, March 20, to take on the No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs. First serve is set for 3 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
