Men’s Tennis Prepares to Face off Against In-State Rival No. 6 Mississippi State Before Rounding off the Weekend against Alabama

OXFORD, Miss.– The No. 27 Ole Miss Men's Tennis team prepares for a challenging weekend as it travels to No. 6 Mississippi State and No. 49 Alabama.
The weekend opens with a Friday evening match at 5 p.m. in Starkville, Mississippi, at the A.J. Pitts Centre. The Bulldogs (16-3, 7-2 SEC) enter with momentum after coming off a dominant 6-1 victory against No. 7 LSU.
Mississippi State has a highly ranked lineup featuring six ranked singles players, led by No. 6 Peter Jovanovic and No. 35 Benito Sanchez Martinez. Their doubles are just as strong with No. 4 Benito Sanchez Martinez and Petar Jovanovic, and No. 47 Bryan Hernandez Cortes and Roberto Ferrer Guimaraes. Jovanovic leads the Bulldogs after setting the program record for career wins with over 190 combined.
Head coach Jake Jacoby will also be making his return to his past coaching tenure at Mississippi State. Jacoby served as an associate head coach for six years for the Bulldogs before joining Ole Miss this past summer.
Following Friday's match, the Rebels will travel to Tuscaloosa for a Sunday match-up at 1 p.m. against No. 49 Alabama at the University of Alabama Tennis Stadium. The Crimson Tide (9-11, 3-6 SEC) has proved they can compete against the top-ranked competition in the conference, for the Crimson Tide took down No. 11 Georgia 4-3 earlier in the season.
Alabama is led by three ranked singles players, No. 79 Vit Kalina, No. 94 Matic Kriznik, and No. 109 Andrii Zimnokh. In addition, they have ranked doubles No. 33 Andrii Zimnokh and Vit Kalina.
Ole Miss (15-5, 3-5 SEC) will look to its own ranked leaders to set the tone on the road. Stefano D'Agostino is ranked at No. 77 in singles and is also No. 85 in doubles with Pietro Pampanin as his partner.
