Women’s Tennis Caps Last Home Stand with Pair of Victories on Senior Day

4/7/2026 | Women's Tennis

OXFORD, Miss. – No. 45 Ole Miss Women's Tennis wins both games of a doubleheader after defeating Mississippi Valley State, 7-0, and later beating Memphis, 4-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center.

In its last home matches of the season, Ole Miss (13-9, 5-8 SEC) is now on a four-match win streak after defeating both Mississippi Valley State (0-9, 0-7 SWAC) and Memphis (2-15, 0-1 AAC).

Ole Miss started the day against the Delta Devils, who would only bring five players to Oxford, which led them to forfeit a court in both singles and doubles.

In doubles, the Rebels would be quick to take the point, with Emily Welker and Alice Soulié winning, 6-0, and then Riley Crowder and Brooklyn Olson followed after also winning 6-0.

Ole Miss would then enter singles with a 2-0 advantage because of the forfeit on court six because of MVSU being short a player.

The Rebels would go on to dominate the singles point with No. 18 Welker, Soulié, Olson, Crowder, and Beatrice Stagno all defeating their opponents, 6-0, 6-0. This allowed the Rebels to complete the 7-0 sweep.

Later in the afternoon, Ole Miss would celebrate Seniors, Welker and Emma Kette, before taking on Memphis for its second match of the day.

Similar to the match against MVSU, the Tigers would be short a player, leading to the Rebels automatically winning a court in doubles and singles.

In doubles, Ole Miss would only needed one court to clinch the doubles point and No. 13 Welker and Andrea Nova would deliver, winning 6-4 against Sofiia Mykhailets and Emma Dvorackova. Soulié and Crowder's match against Alicia Mall and Clemence Thouard would go unfinished, 5-5.

Headed into singles, the Rebels would start with a 2-0 advantage with the Tigers forfeiting court six. Additionally, Crowder would get a point for Ole Miss, holding onto a 6-2, 1-0 lead before Clemence Thouard retired.

With the Rebels leading 3-0, the Senior, No. 18 Welker, would finish with a 6-0, 6-0 win in her final home match as a Rebel, lifting the Rebels to a 4-0 win against the Tigers.

The Rebels will be wrapping up the regular season on the road, playing No. 19 Tennessee on Thursday, April 9 at 4 p.m. before heading to play Kentucky on Saturday, April 11 at 12 p.m.
