Four Student-Athletes Represent Ole Miss Track & Field at 2026 USATF Championships

NEW YORK – The Ole Miss track and field program was on display this past weekend among some of the best athletes the sport has to offer, with four student-athletes competing Thursday through Sunday at the 2026 Toyota USA Track and Field Championships at Icahn Stadium in New York City.
Running in the first round of the Xfinity 200-meter dash on Saturday, Jordan Urrutia took third place in his heat with a time of 20.72 to qualify for the final round. The only teenager within the event's field, Urrutia lined up alongside former U.S. Olympian Noah Lyles, professional sprinters Brandon Hicklin and Kyree King, and some of the best among the college ranks.
"What an incredible race by Jordan yesterday," said Ole Miss head coach Connie Price-Smith. "He has had a tremendous season and to finish it off in this fashion just speaks volumes about this young man's ability and the training by our coaches."
Running in lane two, Urrutia would go on to take seventh place in the final heat of the Xfinity men's 200-meter dash on Sunday.
"Making the final at the USATF Championships is a tremendous accomplishment, but for Jordan, it's only the beginning," said sprints coach Morrie Turner. "The way he prepares for moments like these gives us every reason to believe he's on the path to accomplishing some truly special things throughout his career. We're proud of where he is today, but even more excited about what's still ahead."
Urrutia also participated among a stacked filed in the first round of the Xfinity 100-meter dash on Thursday.
Joining Urrutia in the 100-meter was fellow Rebel Dekell Minor, who lined up in heat one of the initial round next to Olympian and world record-holder Christian Coleman. Qualifying for Friday's semifinal round of the 100, Minor would clock a time of 10.13, setting a new personal best at the prestigious event.
Running in Thursday's men's 10,000-meter, Aiden Britt represented Ole Miss and took 11th place among a strong field of professionals and top collegiate runners.
Arvesta Troupe would compete in the high jump at the USATF Outdoor Championships for the second year in a row, clearing the bar at 2.12 meters on Friday.
"I am super excited of the way Dekell Minor finished the season with a personal record in the 100-meter," said Price-Smith. "For Aiden Britt and Arvesta Troupe, their seasons may not have ended the way they wanted, but just getting to this meet was an accomplishment that they should be proud of, I know I am."
