Soccer's Todd Shulenberger Earns First Victory as Head Coach

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss Soccer secured its first win of the 2026 campaign, defeating Murray State Wednesday night 1-0 at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.
The game marked Todd Shulenberger's first win as Ole Miss's head coach. The Rebels (1-0-0) controlled the match throughout, outshooting the Racers 22-4 and earning a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.
It would be Katie Ramsden who delivered the match's lone goal in the 63rd minute to propel the Rebels to a win.
After entering the match in the 61st minute, Ramsden only needed two minutes to put Ole Miss in front. Sarah Granno assisted the junior for the finish at the 62:14 mark, giving Ramsden her first goal of the season.
Ole Miss applied pressure from the opening whistle, recording the first 11 shots of the match while keeping Murray State (0-1-0) without an attempt during the opening 45 minutes.
Granno generated one of the Rebels' best early opportunities, putting a shot on frame in the 17th minute, but it was deflected. Ole Miss continued to push forward, producing six corner kicks and receiving shot attempts from seven players during the first half.
Despite a few promising offensive opportunities, the Rebels and Racers entered the half scoreless.
Ole Miss picked up where it left off following the break, registering three shots during the opening six minutes of the second half. Ramsden entered for Isabelle Wright in the 61st minute and broke through shortly afterward, converting on Granno's pass to give the Rebels a 1-0 advantage.
Murray State recorded its first shot on goal in the 70th minute, but Taylor Prigge denied Breece Bass to preserve the lead. The Racers followed with their only corner kick of the night, but Ole Miss prevented the ensuing opportunity from the Racers.
Prigge played all 90 minutes in goal, making one save to secure the shutout and her first victory of the season.
Ole Miss finished with four shots on goal and held 55% of the possession. The Rebels recorded 11 shots in each half while limiting Murray State to four attempts, all of which came after halftime.
Ole Miss returns to action on Sunday, Aug. 16 as it travels to Lafayette, Louisiana, to face off against Louisiana. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
