NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Walter Camp Football Foundation unveiled their selections to the preseason watch list for the 2026 Player of the Year award on Monday, choosing Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewan Lacy to the 50-man list.

The Rebels are one of nine programs with multiple selections to the watch list, given annually to college football's top player.

A semifinalist for the Walter Camp Player of the Year award in 2025, Chambliss is among the top returning quarterbacks in the nation after throwing for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns while adding 527 and eight scores on the ground last year. He has already earned a handful of recognition entering the 2026 season, as he was selected to the preseason watch list for the Maxwell Award, tabbed a preseason first team All-American by On3, and named to preseason all-SEC teams by the conference media, Athlon, and Phil Steele.

One of the country's premier returners at running back, Lacy set a pair of program records with 1,567 yards and 24 touchdowns en route to first team All-American honors in 2025 and was a finalist for the 2025 Doak Walker Award. The Dallas native adds a spot on the Walter Camp Award watch list to a 2026 preseason resume that includes Maxwell Award watch list, first team All-America honors by Walter Camp, ESPN, On3, Athlon and Phil Steele, as well as first team all-conference honors from numerous outlets.

Semifinalists for the 2026 Walter Camp Award will be announced in early November, with the three finalists unveiled in early December. The winner of the award will be announced during the second week of December.

Coming off a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance a season ago, the Ole Miss football team is set to kickoff the 2026 season on Sunday, September 6 against Louisville at 6:30 p.m. CT at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
