OXFORD, Miss. – No. 9 Ole Miss football begins the 2026 season Sunday as first year Head Coach Pete Golding and the Rebels head to Nashville to take on the No. 24 ranked Louisville Cardinals in the Music City Kickoff at Nissan Stadium.
The Cardinals enter Sunday's matchup coming off of a 9-4 season (4-4 ACC). This will be just the second matchup ever between the Rebels and the Cardinals with the last coming in 2021 resulting in a 43-24 victory for the Rebels.

2025 Louisville Cardinals Season Rewind
Jeff Brohm enters year four at his alma mater coming off of a season in which the Cardinals began the season 4-0 before suffering their first loss versus Virginia. In late September the Cardinals secured their first big victory of the season defeating Pittsburgh on the road, then followed it up three weeks later with a victory on the road at Miami. However, Louisville would drop three of their last four before closing their season out in a victory over the Toledo Rockets in the Boca Roton Bowl.
In each of Brohm's previous three seasons at Louisville the Cardinals have finished with nine wins or better and appeared in the ACC Championship game in his inaugural season. The Cardinals have found success under Brohm as they look to repeat history this upcoming season.

Three Players to Watch: Ole Miss Rebels
- Trinidad Chambliss - Chambliss enters year two at Ole Miss coming off a stellar campaign during the 2025 season. Trinidad is coming off of a season in which he passed for 3,937 yards, 22 touchdowns, and threw just 3 interceptions.
- Kewan Lacy - Lacy returns to Oxford for his junior season coming off of a season where he led all of FBS in carries with 306 carries on the season. Kewan additionally rushed for 1,567 yards and 24 touchdowns both ranking in the top 3 in all of FBS.
- Keaton Thomas- Thomas transfers to Ole Miss for his season following three years at Baylor. Keaton will replace TJ Dottery from last season and look to fill a hole in the Rebels defense.
- Lincoln Kienholz- Kienholz transfers to Louisville following two years at Ohio State where he served as a backup. The former four star prospect will be the projected starter for the week one matchup against the Rebels.
- Isacc Brown- Brown begins his junior year at Louisville coming off of a season in which he rushed for 884 yards and totaled 7 touchdowns. Isaac enters the season with preseason All-American honors.
- Clev Lubin- Lubin enters his junior season coming off of a year in which he led the team with 8.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles earning him an All-ACC selection last season.
