Prior, Thompson Lead Cross Country Squads At Saluki Invitational

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Lady Rebel freshman Cathy Prior placed 35th overall to lead the Ole Miss women's cross country team to an 11th-place finish at the Saluki Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Scott Thompson was the highest finisher for the men's team, as the Rebels placed 15th.
The Lady Rebels were 11th with a score of 305, and the men's team was 15th with 414 points. The women's race was 5000 meters, while the men's competition was 10,000 meters.
Prior placed 35th in a time of 19:26, while junior Kelly Gable was the squad's second-highest finisher at 45th with a time of 19:50. Other finishers for the Lady Rebels were sophomore Lauren Beaulieu in 58th (20:15), senior Daya Hampton in 79th (21:07) and sophomore Chika Chuku in 88th (21:24).
On the men's side, Thompson finished in 62nd place with a time of 27:30. Sophomore Marcus Christoffersen was the squad's second-highest at 69th in a time of 27:59. The Rebels' other three finishers were sophomore Hank Campbell in 86th (28:49), junior Ben Chisman in 96th (29:29) and freshman Jim Morrison in 101st (30:44).
The Ole Miss cross country teams will return to competition on Oct. 16 at the Tiger Invitational in Memphis, Tenn.
