Bartlett, Rebels Finish Fourth At Gary Koch Intercollegiate

TAMPA, Fla. - The Ole Miss men's golf team, led by Jon Bartlett, placed fourth at the Gary Koch/Cleveland Intercollegiate. The Rebels, who won the event last year, fired a 296-298-293- -887 at the Old Memorial Golf Course to earn their second straight top five finish.
North Florida shot a final-round 288 to win the tournament and finish with a 54-hole score of 874. Auburn was three strokes behind at 877, followed by Georgia State with an 880. UNF's Erik Labitzke captured the individual crown with a 70-69-72--211, which was five under par and one stroke ahead of Auburn's Roland Thatcher.
Bartlett, a senior from Ocala, Fla., placed in a tie for fourth with a 73-72-73--218. It is the first top five finish of the year and third of his Rebel career for Bartlett, who transferred to Ole Miss last year from Central Alabama Community College. Placing second on the squad in stroke average a year ago, Bartlett boasts a 73 average in five rounds this year.
Making his collegiate debut, Andrew Medley, a sophomore from Jackson, Miss., tied for 15that the Gary Koch with a 75-73-74--222. Senior Buck Purselley of Ft. Worth, Texas, competed in his second career tournament with the Rebels and placed in a tie for 32nd with a 73-76-78--227.
Troy Muller, a junior from Braithwaite, La., fired a final-round 70 to finish with a three- round score of 228 and rank 36th, while Phil Caravia, a junior from Belleville, Ill., totaled a 79-77- 76--232 to finish 49th.
Ole Miss is next in action Nov. 1 and 2 at the Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate in Baton Rouge, La.
