OLE MISS POSTGAME NOTES
* Tonight's win by Ole Miss was the Rebels' third consecutive over LSU, marking the first time they have beaten the Tigers three straight years since winning six consecutive from 1952-57.
* Tonight's win also marked the first time Ole Miss has won two straight in Baton Rouge since winning in 1966 (17-0) and 1968 (27-24).
* The 42 points was the most scored by a Rebel team against LSU since scoring 46 in a 46-17 win over the Tigers in Baton Rouge back in 1956. The 42 points is the most scored by Ole Miss in a game since beating SMU 48-41 in overtime last season in Dallas.
* Tonight's win gives the Rebels three straight SEC road wins in the same season since 1990 when they defeated Georgia (28-12), Vanderbilt (14-13) and LSU (19-10).
* This evening's win gives Ole Miss its second straight 6-2 start and makes the Rebels bowl eligible for the third straight year. It also guarantees the Rebels three straight years with at least six wins since going 6-5 three years in a row from 1975-77.
* Romaro Miller hit Cory Peterson for a four-yard TD pass in the first quarter extending his streak to seven straight games with at least one TD pass. The last time Miller did not throw a TD pass was in the season-opener against Memphis, a game in which Ole Miss won 3-0.
* Shawn Johnson's sack of LSU QB Josh Booty in the second quarter marked the 19th straight regular season game that Ole Miss has recorded at least one QB sack. The last time the Rebels did not record a sack was against Mississippi State in the 1997 finale.
* Senior SS Ronnie Heard scored his first career TD with a 28-yard interception return in the third quarter. It was Heard's fourth career interception, and it also marked the first time an Ole Miss player has returned an interception for a TD since Shane Elam returned one 89 yards for a score last year at Vanderbilt (9/19/98).
* RB's Deuce McAllister and Joe Gunn both recorded 100-yard rushing performances tonight, marking the second time that the tandem has done so. McAllister and Gunn both rushed for 100 yards last year against Arkansas State (10/24/98), when McAllister gained 124 and Gunn 122. McAllister had 140 yards rushing tonight on 25 carries, while Gunn had 135 yards on 19 carries.
* The 135-yard rushing performance was Joe Gunn's fifth 100-yard rushing game of the season and the seventh of his career, ranking fourth on the Ole Miss all-time list. For Deuce McAllister it was his first 100-yard rushing performance of the season and the sixth of his career, tying him with Cory Philpot (1991-92) for fifth-place on the school's career list.
* The 326 yards rushing by Ole Miss was the first time the Rebels have tallied 300 or more yards rushing in a game since gaining 380 yards on the ground against Tulane in 1990.
* Deuce McAllister returned his first career punt for 20 yards in the fourth quarter.
* Junior K Les Binkley converted on all six extra-point attempts this evening, making him a perfect 27-of-27 on the year.
* Romaro Miller's 103 yards passing tonight moved him fifth-place on the Ole Miss career list with 3,803 yards, passing Josh Nelson (1994-95) with 3,703 yards and Russ Shows (1989-92) with 3,778 yards.
* Cory Peterson caught five passes tonight to tie Floyd Franks (1968-70) in second-place on the Ole Miss career receptions list with 127. Peterson is now 12 catches shy of tying Ta'Boris Fisher (1993-96) as the Rebel career leader with 139 catches.
* Cory Peterson's 41 yards receiving tonight moved him into fourth-place on the school's career list for receiving yards with 1,747, passing Floyd Franks (1968-70) with 1,707.
* Freshman RB Toward Sanford had a career-long rush of 33 yards in the first quarter to set-up Ole Miss' first score.
