Ole Miss Routs In State Rival, 3-0

JACKSON, Miss. - For the first time this season, the Ole Miss Lady Rebel volleyball team hit over .400, in route to a 3-0 victory over winless Jackson State on the road Monday night.
The Lady Rebels (8-7, 0-3 SEC) allowed only one point in each of the first two games, while allowing only four point in the third game. Jackson State (0-17) could manage only 12 kills to its nine errors for the match, the fewest kills Ole Miss has allowed this season.
Junior Kira Zschau led the way for the Lady Rebels with nine kills, a service ace and a dig. Her .429 attacking percentage tops her career high of .346 set against Auburn last season.
Freshman Sarah Lansden also had a career day, hitting .429 with eight kills to top her previous career high of .412 against Fordham earlier this season. She also had three digs and two block assists.
The Lady Rebels racked up 15 service aces, including seven by sophomore Jaime Burns, who leads the team in aces. Junior Renata Nowacki, who leads the team in service aces per game, picked up four aces.
This was the 11th meeting between the Lady Rebels and the Lady Tigers, but the first since 1981. Ole Miss now leads the series 10-1, the only loss coming in 1979.
Ole Miss will return to Southeastern Conference action Friday at South Carolina and Sunday at Georgia. South Carolina (9-6, 3-1 SEC) is currently ranked second in the SEC behind undefeated and defending champion Florida. Georgia (4-8, 1-3 SEC) ranks fourth in the SEC East and is coming off losses to Arkansas and LSU. The are currently the only team in the SEC with an overall losing record.
