OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi fullback Charles Stackhouse has undergone arthroscopic surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee.
The surgery Monday went well, Mississippi coach David Cutcliffe said.
Stackhouse, a sophomore, will not play Saturday against Tulane, but could return for the Rebels' Oct. 16 home game against No. 12th Alabama. After that, Mississippi has an open date before playing at LSU on Oct. 30.
Cutcliffe also said Monday night that senior strong safety Kenny Woods, who has not responded well to treatment for a several hamstring pull, would not play the rest of the season.
The school plans to seek a medical redshirt for Woods, who hasn't played the last two weeks after playing in the first three games.
Mississippi also intends to seek an extra season for senior receiver Grant Heard, who has played in just one game this season because of a knee injury.
