Ole Miss Closes Out 1999 Campaign

OXFORD, Miss.--The Ole Miss Lady Rebel volleyball team will close out the 1999 season with a pair of matches against in-state conference rival Mississippi State on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Starkville and on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Oxford.

The Lady Rebels will also celebrate senior day on Sunday with a presentation honoring the four Ole Miss seniors, Lauren Dorcheus, Lisa Frannino, Korrie Kashuba and Rebecca Rider.

The Rebels (9-18, 0-13 SEC) will try end their season on a high note and pick up their first conference wins of the season against a struggling Mississippi State team (10-15, 1-12 SEC), that has won only one conference match this season.

With the change to the Southeastern Conference tournament format this season, allowing only the top eight teams to compete for the tournament title, the Lady Rebels have been eliminated from post season play along with Mississippi State. Georgia and Kentucky will battle for the final spot in the tournament field this weekend.

Frannino, one of the most accomplished setters in Ole Miss history, will complete her career in second place in assists in school history, behind Liz Poerner. She will also finish third all-time in service aces and sixth in block assists. Dorcheus, the 1999 team captain, will complete her tenure with the fourth highest attacking percentage in school history and with the fifth highest block assist total.
