SENIOR DAY SALUTE
Ole Miss will honor its 17 seniors and families prior to the Rebels final home game of the season this Saturday against Georgia. This year's senior class has compiled a four-year mark of 27-17 heading into Saturday's game, including victories in the 1997 Ford Motor City and 1998 Sanford Independence Bowls.
The 27 wins is the most by a Rebel senior class since the 1993 seniors registered a four-year record of 29-17 from 1990-93.
This year's Ole Miss senior class includes: TE Adam Bettis (Sherwood, Ark.), DT Michael Boone (West Helena, Ark.), DT Kendrick Clancy (Tuscaloosa, Ala.), DT Comone Fisher (Houston, Texas), LB Ronnie Heard (Lake Jackson, Texas), C Bobby Killion (Crowley, Texas), WR Ronnie Letson (Norcross, Ga.), K Carlisle McGee (Greenville, Miss.), WR Sheldon Morris (Jacksonville, Fla.), WR Cory Peterson (Germantown, Tenn.), OL Tutan Reyes (Queens, N.Y.), LB Al Rice (Hattiesburg, Miss.), LB Armegis Spearman (Bruce, Miss.), CB Tim Strickland (Memphis, Tenn.), OT Todd Wade (Jackson, Miss.), DT Tyler Williams (Mayslanding, N.J.), and WR Trent Wright (Mobile, Ala.). IN THE POLLS
Ole Miss moved up two spots to No. 16 in both of this week's ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top 25 and The Associated Press Top 25. It is the seventh consecutive week that the Rebels have been ranked in either one of the two major college football polls.
The No. 16 ranking is Ole Miss' highest in either of the two major polls since being rated No. 16 in both of the final 1992 polls by The Associated Press and United Press International (UPI).
Georgia is ranked No. 21 in this week's AP Top 25 and are No. 23 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll.
OLE MISS RECORDS ITS BEST NINE-GAME MARK SINCE 1990
The Rebels' 7-2 mark is their best nine-game record since starting 8-1 in 1990. A win Saturday against Georgia would give Ole Miss its first 8-2 record since that 1990 team that finished with a 9-3 record and an appearance against Michigan in the Gator Bowl.
The 1990 squad dropped its 10th game of the season, 33-21, to Tennessee to fall to 8-2.
SEVENTH WIN SECURES REBELS' THIRD STRAIGHT WINNING SEASON
Ole Miss' 38-16 win over Arkansas on Nov. 6 guarantees the Rebels three straight winning seasons for the first time since finishing 6-5 three consecutive years from 1975-77. The win over the Razorbacks also marked the first time Ole Miss had posted three straight years with at least seven wins since doing so in four consecutive seasons from 1968-71. The Rebels went 8-4 in 1997 and 7-5 last year.
REBELS ON TV
Saturday's game against Georgia, which will be televised by ESPN2, will mark Ole Miss' fifth TV appearance of 1999. ESPN will carry the Rebels' Thanksgiving night match-up against arch-rival Mississippi State on Nov. 25 to give Ole Miss a total of six TV appearances for the season, one shy of the school record of seven set in 1997 (Ole Miss will have a shot to tie that record if the Rebels' receive a bowl invitation). Ole Miss is 2-2 in TV games this season, losing 37-34 in overtime to Vanderbilt on Sept. 18, defeating Auburn 27-24 in overtime on Sept. 25, losing 30-24 to Alabama on Oct. 16, and defeating Arkansas 38-16 on Nov. 6. The Vanderbilt and Auburn games were televised by Jefferson Pilot, CBS aired the Alabama game and ESPN2 carried the Arkansas contest.
Overall, this will be the Rebels' 102nd TV appearance dating back to Ole Miss' first network TV appearance in the 1953 Sugar Bowl against Georgia Tech. Ole Miss is 46-54-2 all-time in TV games. Saturday's game will be the Rebels' sixth appearance on ESPN2. Ole Miss is 2-4 all-time on ESPN2.
Ole Miss and Georgia have battled before a TV audience eight times previously. The Rebels are 3-5 versus the Bulldogs on TV.
During the decade of the 1990s, Ole Miss is 17-21 in television games.
CUTCLIFFE'S START AMONG BEST BY OLE MISS COACHES
First-year head coach David Cutcliffe's 8-2 record at Ole Miss ties him with the legendary John Vaught and Billy Kinard for the second-best 10-game start by a coach at Ole Miss in school history. A win against Georgia Saturday would tie Cutcliffe with Vaught, Kinard and Harry J. Mehre for the best 11-game start in school history at 9-2. Mehre owns the best 10-game start by a coach at Ole Miss, leading his 1938 team to a 9-1 start before losing its season-finale to finish his first season with a 9-2. The following chart shows the top-five 10-game starts by an Ole Miss coach and what his team did in his 11th game:
| Coach | W-L-T | Pct. | Next |
| Harry J. Mehre (1938) | 9-1-0 | .900 | L |
| David Cutcliffe (1999) | 8-2-0 | .800 | ? |
| Billy Kinard (1971) | 8-2-0 | .800 | W |
| John Vaught (1947) | 8-2-0 | 800 | W |

Since the SEC began divisional play in 1992, Ole Miss is 12-11 versus the SEC Eastern Division. The following chart shows how Ole Miss has fared against the SEC East since 1992:
| School | W-L | School | W-L |

DEUCE IS ON THE LOOSE
Junior RB Deuce McAllister (Morton, Miss.) recorded a career-high 317 all-purpose yards against Arkansas on Nov. 6, surpassing his previous high of 269 yards against Alabama on Oct. 16. McAllister set a school single-game record with 158 kickoff return yards on three attempts, including a 100-yard return for a TD on the game's opening kickoff, rushed for 125 yards on 21 carries and caught two passes for 34 yards. For his performance against the Razorbacks he was named the SEC's Offensive Player of the Week.
The 317 all-purpose yards was the most by an Ole Miss player since John Avery recorded 292 all-purpose yards versus Alabama on Oct. 25, 1997. It was also the third straight game McAllister has recorded 250 or more all-purpose yards. The 125 yards rushing was his second straight 100-yard rushing performance after gaining 140 yards on the ground against LSU on Oct. 30.
McALLISTER LEADS THE WAY IN ALL-PURPOSE YARDS
Deuce McAllister's average of 171.1 all-purpose yards per game leads the SEC, according to the latest conference statistics, and ranks fifth nationally in the latest NCAA Division I-A statistics. Alabama's Shaun Alexander is second in the SEC in all-purpose yards with an average of 168.3 yards per game. In eight games this season, McAllister has accumulated 1,369 all-purpose yards to give him back-to-back seasons with at least 1,200 all-purpose yards (see Rebels in the SEC/NCAA Statistics on page 4).
McALLISTER SETS SINGLE-GAME, SINGLE-SEASON RECORD FOR KICKOFF RETURNS
Deuce McAllister's 158 kickoff return yards against Arkansas established a new school single-game record, breaking the record he set with 152 kickoff return yards against Alabama on Oct. 16. His 100-yard kickoff return for a TD to start the game against the Razorbacks ties John Avery for the longest return during the school's modern history (after 1932). Avery had 100-yard kickoff returns against LSU (11/16/96) and Alabama (10/25/97). McAllister's 100-yard kickoff return also earned him the "Compaq Best Kickoff Return of the Week" Award, which was voted on by a panel of sportswriters and sportscasters.
McAllister also broke the Ole Miss single-season record for kickoff return yards against Arkansas. He now has 578 kickoff return yards this season on 21 attempts to break Pat Coleman's 1988 mark of 560 yards on 28 attempts.
McAllister is averaging 27.5 yards per return, ranking second in the SEC and 10th nationally in the latest SEC and NCAA statistics (see Rebels in the SEC/NCAA statistics in the box on the right).
DEUCE VOTED AS CBS SPORTSLINE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
In addition to being named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts against Arkansas, Deuce McAlllister was voted as the CBS SportsLine Player of the Week for week No. 10 of the college football season. McAllister received 46.1 percent of the 8,629 total votes cast by fans on the CBS SportsLine internet site.
MILLER TIES RECORD STREAK
Junior QB Romaro Miller's (Shann-on, Miss.) 78-yard TD strike to sophomore Syniker Taylor (Gulfport, Miss.) in the first quarter against Arkansas extended Miller's streak to eight straight games with at least one TD pass, tying the legendary Archie Manning's (1968-70) school record.
Manning's streak stretched over the course of the 1969 and 1970 seasons. He tossed at least one TD pass in the final two games of the 1969 season, one in the 1970 Sugar Bowl, and then recorded at least one in the first five games of the 1970 campaign.
Miller has recorded a TD pass in every game this season except the season-opener against Memphis (9/4). In 20 career starts, including last December's Sanford Independence Bowl, Miller has thrown at least one TD pass in 16 of his starts.
MILLER ON DAVEY O'BRIEN AWARD WATCH LIST
Junior QB Romaro Miller (Shannon, Miss.) has been announced as one of the 25 leading candidates for the 1999 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award. The candidates were selected by the O'Brien Advisory Committee, a panel of nationally known sportswriters and commentators. The committee will vote several more times during the season to narrow the field of candidates and ultimately select a winner. The 1999 Davey O'Brien Award winner will be announced Dec. 9, 1999 during The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN, which is broadcast live from Orlando, Fla.
BINKLEY NAMED SEMI-FINALIST FOR LOU GROZA AWARD
Junior PK Les Binkley (Memphis, Tenn.) has been named as one of 20 semi-finalists for the 1999 Lou Groza Award, which honors the top NCAA Division I-A place-kicker. The award is selected by a panel of voters and the winner will be announced Tuesday, December 7 at the Sheraton West Palm Beach Hotel. Immediately following the announcement, the winner will head to Orlando for the 1999 ESPN College Football Award Show where he will be honored during a live telecast.
A junior college All-American last year at Northwest (Miss.), Binkley currently ranks second on the team in scoring with 65 points. He has connected on all 32 extra-point attempts this season, and has made 11-of-13 FGs. His longest of the season was a 46-yarder against Alabama on Oct. 16.
His 65 points also ranks third on the school single-season list for scoring by a kicker (see the Rebel Record Book on page 4).
PETERSON CHASING CAREER RECEPTIONS MARK
Cory Peterson had three receptions against Arkansas to move within nine of tying Ta'Boris Fisher (1993-96) atop the Ole Miss career list for receptions with 139. Peterson is currently second on the list with 130.
Peterson also had 35 yards receiving against the Razorbacks to surpass Michael Harmon (1979-82) for third-place on the school's career list for receiving yards with 1,779. Willie Green (1986-89) is the Rebel career leader in receiving yards with 2,274 (see the Rebel Record Book on page 4).
PETERSON MAKES HISTORY AGAINST ARKANSAS
With his three catches against the Razorbacks Cory Peterson became just the second Ole Miss player to record at least 40 receptions in three straight seasons. The other was Ta'Boris Fisher (1993-96) - whose career receptions mark Peterson is chasing - who caught 41 passes in 1994, 45 in 1995 and 40 in 1996. Peterson tallied 40 receptions in 1997, 41 in 1998 and currently has 41 through nine games this season.
SACK ATTACK
Ole Miss recorded five sacks against Arkansas to extend its streak to 20 straight regular season games with at least one QB sack. The last time the Rebels didn't register at least one QB sack was in the 1997 regular-season finale at Mississippi State. Kendrick Clancy leads the team in sacks with 6.5 for 37 yards The 35 sacks is the most by a Rebel team since recording 39 in 1992.
