CLEMSON, S.C. - The Clemson Lady Tigers outscored Ole Miss 18-8 during the final five minutes of the game to overcome a two-point Lady Rebel lead and come away with a 71-63 win Monday night.
The Lady Rebels fall to 1-1 overall on the season while Clemson improves to 2-0.
The Lady Rebels led Clemson 34-33 at halftime but committed four turnovers to open the second half as the Lady Tigers went on a 19-12 run to take a 52-46 lead with 8:54 left in the game.
Ole Miss then went on a 9-1 run to go ahead 55-53 with 5:10 remaining in the game.
But, Clemson responded with strong defense that held the Lady Rebels to only eight points down the stretch and secured the 71-63 victory.
"We put ourselves in a position to win the game at the end," Ole Miss head coach Ron Aldy said. "But, Clemson had some players that stepped up and made the plays when they needed it."
Becky Myatt led the Lady Rebels with 16 points, including 4-for-10 from three-point range. Frankie Boyd added 15 points and Von-Gretchen Kirk add 12 points for Ole Miss.
