Ole Miss Downs Middle Tennesse State, 76-44

OXFORD, MISS. - The Ole Miss women's basketball team, led by four players in double figures, downed Middle Tennessee State 76-44 Thursday night in Tad Smith Coliseum. The Lady Rebels improved to 7-1, while Middle Tennessee dropped to 4-4.

Junior Heather Bantz scored a career-high 13 points including a perfect 3-of-3 from behind the arc to lead the Lady Rebels. She was 5-of-6 overall >from the field. Von-Kirk led Ole Miss on the boards with six rebounds and also chipped in 10 points. Frankie Boyd had 12 points and Sinissia Wysinger finished 5-of-6 from the floor for 10 points, all in the second half.

Ole Miss led by 18 at the half (36-18) but quickly went ahead by 27 with 11:59 to go in the game with Wysinger scoring 10 points in a three minute span, and Bantz nailing one of her three threes.

Kelly Chastain led Middle Tennessee with 17 points on 6-of-10 from the field. Ole Miss shot 44.3 percent from the floor, while the Lady Raiders shot 31.9 percent. The Lady Rebels outrebounded Middle Tennessee 42-33.

The Lady Rebels return to action Monday Dec. 20 as they take on San Jose State in the first round of the Northern Arizona Hilton Garden Inn Classic in Flagstaff, Ariz. Game time is 7:05 p.m. (MST).
