Lady Rebels Edge Southern Miss, 62-60

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's basketball team closed out the 20th century with a 62-60 road win over Southern Mississippi Wednesday night.
The Lady Rebels (9-2) were led by Becky Myatt and Von-Gretchen Kirk, who each tallied 14 points. Kirk fired four three-pointers, including a key three with 2:07 remaining to put Ole Miss ahead 55-49. Takela Corbitt followed with two of her six points on the next possession to give the Lady Rebels an eight-point advantage, the biggest lead by either team in the game, with 1:27 left. USM's Angela Johnson connected on a long three-pointer in the final second, but it was not enough.
Sinissia Wysinger grabbed 14 rebounds for Ole Miss, while Stephanie Murphy notched her first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Frankie Boyd totaled 12 points and four boards.
Angela Atterberry posted 17 points and nine rebounds for Southern Miss, who falls to 6-5 on the season.
Ole Miss next takes on Tennessee Tech on Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. in Cookeville, Tenn.
