Ole Miss Men Sweep, Women Take Two At Kickoff Klassic

JONESBORO, Ark.--The Ole Miss Rebel track and field team, led by Savante' Stringfellow, Hank Campbell and John Frierson, swept their competition, while the Lady Rebels took contests against Arkansas-Little Rock and the University of Memphis in the duel meet format of the Kickoff Klassic indoor track meet held at Arkansas State on Sunday.
The Rebels were the only team, of the six competing, to sweep their match-ups, while Arkansas State took three-of-four, Memphis took two-of-four, Southeast Missouri took one-of-four and Arkansas-Little Rock went winless.
The Lady Rebels won two-of-four, dropping head-to-head meetings with Arkansas State and Southeast Missouri. SEMO was the only women's team to sweep all four match-ups, while Arkansas State took three-of-four, Arkansas-Little Rock took one-of-four and Memphis came up without a win.
In individual results, Stringfellow, a two-time All-American, won the high jump competition with a jump of 7-0. He is one of only two Rebels to ever eclipse the 7-foot mark. He also placed second in the long jump at 24-11.75, ahead of teammate Kino Mosley, with a jump of 24-5.75, moving him into fifth in the Ole Miss record book.
Campbell, a sophomore, won the men's 1,600-meter run in a time of 4:38.31, while junior Frierson won the weight throw competition with a mark of 47-7, finishing just ahead of Rebel freshman Stacy Andrews.
The Rebels were victorious in both of the men's relay events. With two teams competing in the 4x400-meter relay, the Rebels took first and third, while winning the distance medley relay.
On the women's side, the Lady Rebels took five of the top eight places in the long jump and four in the high jump. Senior Daya Hampton was the highest Lady Rebel finisher, with a second place finish in the long jump, followed by junior Brandy Barnett in third, Monica Barnett in sixth, Fran Goodwin in seventh and Cindy Bowling in eighth.
Brandy Barnett was the top placer in the high jump, with a third place finish, followed by Hampton in fourth, Bowling in sixth and Goodwin in eighth.
