TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Ole Miss was unable to take advantage of three Alabama errors as the Rebels left nine runners on base in a 5-2 loss to the Crimson Tide on Sunday afternoon in Tuscaloosa.
With Alabama leading 2-0 in the third inning, Ole Miss had the bases loaded with no outs. However, Brad Henderson popped out to short, Jason Huisman lined out to right and Alabama rightfielder G.W. Keller threw out Chad Hill trying to score, allowing the Crimson Tide to escape the inning unharmed.
Ole Miss also left the bases loaded in the seventh and left runners on second and third in the eighth. The Rebels' top four hitters--Bobby Kielty, Brad Henderson, Jason Huisman and Robert Shelton--were a combined 2-for-16 in the game.
Matt Frick hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to extend Alabama's lead to 5-1. The Rebels' Michael Rosamond scored off an Alabama error in the seventh to make it 5-2.
B.J. Green worked six innings for the Crimson Tide, allowing two runs on five hits to record the win and improve to 6-2 on the year. Jarrod Kingrey pitched three innings of scoreless relief to earn his 11th save.
Ole Miss wasted a solid pitching performance by Lance Tolbert. He tossed his third straight complete game, going all eight innings and allowing four earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three.
Ole Miss dropped to 25-22 on the year and 9-14 in the SEC, while Alabama improved to 35-12 and 15-8 in the conference and took two of three games in the series with the Rebels. The next game for Ole Miss will be Tuesday against Memphis at 7 p.m. in Oxford, the last non-conference game of the year for the Rebels.
