Baseball Player Is Honored as All-SEC Selection

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss junior second baseman Brad Henderson was named second-team All-SEC the conference office announced Tuesday. The All-SEC team was selected by the conference coaches.
Henderson, a native of Tupelo, Miss., had a fine junior campaign, finishing 13th in the SEC in hitting at .379 average with 15 home runs and 52 RBIs. Henderson also totaled 17 doubles and two triples for a .699 slugging percentage. He finished his third season with Rebels ranked fourth on the school's career list for home runs with 29, ninth in career hits with 187, and tenth in career RBIs with 112. Henderson also finished third among SEC second baseman in fielding percentage with a .979 fielding percentage in his first season since moving to second base from first base.
"Brad had a terrific year and it's a great honor for him," said second-year head coach Pat Harrison who just completed his second season at Ole Miss. "He's put together two great years and it's nice to see him be recognized for it."
Henderson hit .402 in 1997 to finish third in the conference in hitting and led the Rebels with 13 home runs and 49 RBIs.
The Rebels finished this year 30-23, a nine-win improvement over last season, and 13-15 in the SEC. Ole Miss just missed making the SEC Tournament, finishing a half-game behind Arkansas.
