Cross Country Competes in SEC Conference Championships

MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The Ole Miss men's cross country team finished sixth at Saturday's Southeastern Conference Championships in Maryville, Tenn. The University of Tennessee hosted the event.

Senior Bernard Kuria was the Rebels' top finisher, placing 23rd with a time of 26 minutes, 45.40 seconds on the 8K course. Junior Thomas Blackwell finished right behind Kuria in 24th-place at 26:48.68.

Arkansas placed five runners in the top six as the Razorbacks earned their ninth straight SEC men's title, and their 26th consecutive conference crown overall dating back to their time in the Southwest Conference. The Razorbacks easily out-distanced runner-up Tennessee, 19-63.

Junior Michael Power of Arkansas won the men's individual race with a time of 23:55.79. Arkansas also captured the women's team title by upendng two-time defending champion Florida, 25-48, as the Lady Razorbacks placed four runners in the top five. The Ole Miss women finished 12th.

The Lady Razorbacks' Amy Yoder won the women's individual 5K race with a time of 16:52.22.

Freshman Lauren Beaulieu was the Lady Rebels' top finisher in 70th-place with a time of 20:04.32.
