Kuria Places Second in 10,000 Meters at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - Rebel senior Bernie Kuria posted a second-place finish in the 10,000 meters to lead the Ole Miss track and field effort in first-day action at the Texas Relays on Thursday. Senior Wayne Woolery and sophomore Brandy Mack also competed for Ole Miss on Thursday, running in their respective 400-meter hurdles preliminaries.

Kuria placed second in the 10,000 meters in a time of 30:23.27. Kuria's time of 30:23.27 is the fifth best in Ole Miss history. Mike Njenga won the 10,000 meters with a time of 29:34.34.

In the 400-meter hurdles preliminaries, Woolery placed fourth in his heat in a time of 53.28 seconds, while Mack was second in her heat with a time of 1:01.80. Woolery and Mack did not qualify for their respective 400-meter hurdles finals, which will be held on Saturday.

The Texas Relays continue on Friday.
