Men's Golf Head Coach Announces a New Signing

OXFORD, Miss. - Dan Singley, a standout golfer from Meridian, Miss., has signed a national letter of intent to play golf at the University of Mississippi beginning in the fall of 1998, Ole Miss men's golf head coach Woody Cowart announced Monday.
Singley, a senior at Lamar High School in Meridian, has helped lead his high school team to four consecutive state titles. He has captured medalist honors at numerous state and high school tournaments and was named the Most Valuable Player of the golf team at Lamar in 1995, 1997 and 1998.
In 1994, Singley won the State Big I Tournament and advanced to the National Big I Tournament in Austin, Texas. Singley also competed in the USGA Junior Amateur in Flagstaff, Ariz., in 1996 and the Optimist International at Palm Beach Gardens in 1997.
Singley earned second-place finishes at the Pros of Tomorrow tournament in 1996 and at the State Junior Amateur in 1997. He has also earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
"We are looking forward to Dan joining the Ole Miss golf team," Cowart said. "He is an outstanding golfer, and I'm sure his talent will be an asset to our program."
