Men's Golf Team to Compete in Matlock Collegiate Classic

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's golf team will compete in the Charley Matlock Collegiate Classic at the par 72, 6,652-yard ImperiaLakes Golf and Racquet Club in Lakeland, Fla., this weekend. Florida Southern hosts the 54-hole tournament.
The tournament also includes Alabama, Columbus College, Old Dominion, Duke, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Illinois, Kentucky, Memphis, Ohio State, Richmond, Middle Tennessee State, Virginia Commonwealth, Virginia Poly Tech, Valdosta State and Wofford. The teams will play 18 holes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Ole Miss is led by sophomore Troy Muller of Braithwaite, La., with a 71.45 stroke average. Muller has one top five, two top 10 and four top 20 finishes in five tournaments this year. Muller's best performance came at the Herb Wimberly/Coca-Cola Classic, where he tied for fifth place with a 74-67--141.
Haymes Snedeker, a senior from Nashville, Tenn., is second on the team in stroke average with a 71.71 and one top five, three top 10 and three top 20 finishes. Snedeker's best finish came at the Gary Koch/Cleveland Golf Invitational, where he captured individual medalist honors with a 67-68-68--203.
Jon Bartlett, a junior from Ocala, Fla., is third on the team with a 73.85 stroke average. Bartlett has one top 20 finish on the season as he tied for 13th at Gary Koch with a 72-69-74-- 215. Bartlett is followed by sophomore Phil Caravia of Belleville, Ill., with a 73.90 stroke average. Caravia's best finish was a tie for 21st at the Gator Invitational with a 74-71-74--219.
Peter Pugh, a senior from Grenada, Miss., and Chris Malloy, a junior from Broad Run, Va., will also travel with the Rebels this weekend. Pugh has not competed in a tournament this year, and Malloy has a 74.27 stroke average on the season.
