BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Haymes Snedeker, a senior on the Ole Miss men's golf team, was named to the All-Southeastern Conference first team, the league office announced on Monday.

The conference honors were voted on by the league's coaches. A native of Nashville, Tenn., Snedeker is the seventh golfer in Rebel history to receive All- SEC first team accolades, and is the first Ole Miss golfer to be named to the conference first team since Brian Rowell in 1995.

Snedeker leads the Rebels in stroke average at 72.93 and is also ranked among the top 10 in the SEC in stroke average. This season, Snedeker has posted five top-10 finishes, which includes medalist honors at both the Gary Koch-Cleveland Golf Invitational last fall and Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate this spring.

At the Gary Koch-Cleveland Golf Invitational, Snedeker tied a school record for lowest three-round score with a 203. The senior also had a second-place finish at the Alabama Spring Invitational, and was 35th at the SEC Championships.

Snedeker was also named to the SEC Men's Golf Academic Honor Roll. It was the fourth consecutive year that he received that honor.

Ole Miss, which placed 10th at the SEC Championships in April, is awaiting a bid to the NCAA East Regional. The regional field will be announced on Tuesday, May 11. The NCAA East Regional will take place May 20-22 in Providence, R.I.
