Quoting Head Coach Joe Walker
"We like to start the season low key and build up as we go along. The month of October begins about a six week period of what we call a championship phase for us. We go to the Chile Pepper Festival in two weeks, which is hosted by the University of Arkansas and is one of the better cross country meets in the United States. We're facing an off weekend this time to get ready for that, then we'll have a couple of weeks to prepare for the SEC's. We still think our men have a very legitimate shot to have a great season, maybe one of the finest in Ole Miss history - only time will tell. At least we have the chance."
