TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Ole Miss women's basketball team was out scored, 43-20, in the second half as the Crimson Tide of Alabama defeated the Lady Rebels, 78-51, Thursday night in the Coleman Coliseum.
"We felt like we were in a good position to win, down just 35-31 at the half," said Ole Miss head coach Ron Aldy. "We just needed a few folks to step it up and we could have given them a run for their money. We just didn't give it 40 minutes tonight."
Sophomore guard Becky Myatt (Bon Aqua, Tenn.) lead Ole Miss with 17 points sinking six-of-11 shots. Senior Tarsha Bethley (Hollandale, Miss) added 15-first half points while posting seven rebounds.
The Lady Rebels shot 18 percent in the second half, making just six-of-33 attempts from the field. Alabama converted 46 percent of its second half shots, nailing 14-of-30 shots.
The Crimson Tides' Dominique Canty led the way with 19 points on seven-for-13 shooting from the floor. Latoya Caudle added 16 points, 9.5 above her season average, and pulled down 11 rebounds for Alabama.
The Lady Rebels' record dropped to 11-5 overall, 2-3 in the SEC, while Alabama raised its record to 11-5 overall, 1-3 in the SEC.
Ole Miss will return to action Sunday, Feb. 17, at 2:00 p.m. as the Lady Rebels host the LSU Tigers in the Tad Smith Coliseum.
