Rebel Track Teams To Compete At Kentucky

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss men's 4x400-meter relay team currently has the second- fastest time in the nation this season, with a 3:10.25, according to rankings compiled by the NCAA.

The Rebels turned in their season-best time at Saturday's ACC-SEC Challenge in Gainesville, Fla., with the team of senior Wayne Woollery (St. Catherine, Jamaica), sophomore Savante' Stringfellow (Jackson, Miss.), senior Jimmy Love (Jackson, Miss.) and senior Alonzo Banks (Liberty, Miss.). Their time of 3:10.25 is currently ranks as the top time in the Southeastern Conference this season as well.

Stringfellow also ranks third in the SEC in the high jump with a leap of 7-feet-2, and has the fourth-longest high jump in the conference at 24-9. Stringfellow's high jump also currently ranks 15th.

Banks turned in the SEC's top time in the 800 meters this past weekend at 1:50.46, and Woollery ran the third-fastest 400-meter time in the conference this season at 47.59 last weekend.

On the women's side, junior Tisha Parker's season-best jump of 20-1.5, currently ranks sixth in the SEC and 16th nationally. Parker's season-best mark of 40-7.75 in the triple jump also ranks fifth in the conference.

Other Ole Miss athletes of note in the SEC rankings, senior Bernard Kuria has the conference's third-fastest 5,000-meter time at 14:46.96, and ranks eighth in the 3,000 meters at 8:30.29. Senior Marcus Jones is fifth in the triple jump at 48-11.5, and rates sixth in the high jump with a mark of 7-0.5. The Rebels' distance medley relay team has the third fastest mark in the SEC this season at 10:19.90.

Freshman Dawn Dickerson's time of 7.44 in the 60-meter dash is tied for the fourth-fastest in the conference this season, sophomore Brandy Barnett's mark of 5-8 in the high jump also ranks fourth in the SEC, and sophomore Teneeshia Jones' time of 24.48 in the 200 meters currently ranks ninth in the conference.

The Rebels and Lady Rebels will travel to Lexington, Ky., for this Friday and Saturday's Rod McCravy Memorial.

In addition to Ole Miss and Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Memphis, Miami (Ohio), Mississippi State, UNC-Charlotte, and Wallace State round-out the 11-team field.
