OXFORD, Miss. - Junior outfielder Michael Rosamond went 2-for-4 with an opposite field solo home run and senior Brad Henderson, sophomore Banks Robinson, and freshman Kris Cox also collected two hits each to highlight Ole Miss' intra-squad scrimmage Friday night. The scrimmage was the third of the fall for the Rebels who concluded their first week of fall workouts.
"I was really pleased with our hitters tonight," said head coach Pat Harrison. "Our pitchers pitched all right at times tonight, our defense could have played a little better, but overall I'm really pleased with how we are doing."
Junior right-hander Jeff McAvoy started the game for the White squad, which won the game 7-2, and pitched three scoreless innings. McAvoy allowed three hits and struck out three.
Freshman southpaw Nathan Lyons added an inning-and-a-third of scoreless relief and senior right-hander Chad Davis finished the game with two scoreless innings for the White.
"McAvoy and Davis really showed their experience tonight and our young pitchers are coming along," Harrison said.
The Rebels will hold three more scrimmages next week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday's scrimmage is scheduled to begin around 4:00 p.m. at Oxford-University Stadium/ Swayze Field.
