Track Competes at Tiger-Rebel Track and Field Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - -- The freshman trio of Willie Moore, Savante Stringfellow and Cheryl Faubion paced the Ole Miss men's and women's track and field effort at the Tiger-Rebel Invitational on Saturday. Moore and Stringfellow each recorded two top-five finishes, while Faubion finished in the top three in two events.
Moore placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 21.69 seconds and was fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 10.83 seconds. Stringfellow won the high jump (6-11 1/4) and placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 23-2 . The Jackson, Miss., native also finished seventh in the 100 meters with a time of 11.02 seconds.
The Rebels also took top honors in five other events, including Wayne Woolery in the 400 meters (47.11), Bernie Kuria in the 5000 meters (15:04.78), Thomas Blackwell in the 3000-meter steeplechase (9:24.7), Marcus Jones in the triple jump (47-8) and the 1600-meter relay team (3:13.23). Woolery's time in the 400 meters and Blackwell's time in the 5000 meters are team season bests in the events.
Faubion led the Lady Rebels with a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.76) and a third-place showing in the 100-meter hurdles (14.68). Sophomore Daya Hampton also posted two top-five finishes, placing third in the long jump (17-4) and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.09).
Other first-place finishers for the Lady Rebels were Tisha Parker in the 200 meters (23.81), Brandy Mack in the 400 meters (57.23), Susie Haverlah in the 800 meters (2:20.54) and Emily Fontenot in the high jump (5-8).
