GAINESVILLE, Fla. Junior Marcus Jones placed fourth in the men's high jump with a school record mark of 7-1 " and placed fifth in the triple jump to lead Ole Miss in the final day of competition at the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Florida.
Jones was the only Ole Miss athlete on either the men's or women's side to place in two events. He placed fifth in the triple jump with a season and personal best mark of 50-10 1/2.
Sophomore Thomas Blackwell ran to a fifth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a season-best time of 9:13.44, and junior Wayne Woolery finished seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 47.15. Ole Miss' 4x400-meter relay team also finished seventh with a time of 3:12.24.
As a team, Ole Miss finished 10th with 21.5 points. Arkansas captured the men's team title with 183 points to easily out-distance second-place LSU with 135.5 points.
On the women's side, freshman Brandy Mack placed fourth in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles with a personal best time of 58.35 and junior Latoria Jordan finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 40-10.
The Lady Rebels finished 11th with 19 points ahead of Mississippi State with 10. Florida took the women's team title with 142 points. South Carolina was second with 121.5 followed by Georgia with 109.
In late Saturday action, freshman Emily Fontenot finished eighth in the women's high jump with a mark of 5-8 1/2.
