Track and Field to Host Mississippi Open

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss track and field teams will compete in their first outdoor meet of the year as they host the Mississippi Open on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. at the Ole Miss Track and Field Complex.

The meet includes teams from Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Louisville, Illinois State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Mississippi Valley State, Jackson State and Holmes Community College.

The Ole Miss teams are coming off a successful indoor season, where a school record four athletes and the men's 4x400-meter relay team qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Ole Miss junior Tisha Parker earned All-America honors by finishing seventh in the long jump in the NCAA Indoor, while the 4x400-meter relay team of Wayne Woollery, Savante' Stringfellow, Jimmy Love and Alonzo Banks placed fourth at the NCAA to capture All-America honors as well.

"This is our first outdoor meet of the year, and we are excited to compete at home," Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker said. "We are hoping for a good showing Saturday."
