OXFORD, Miss. -- - Ole Miss junior first baseman Jude Voltz from Metairie, La., has been selected the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week and is also one of five Louisville Slugger National Players of the Week selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Voltz had a huge weekend at the plate, going 7-for-12 with five home runs and eight RBIs in the Rebels' 2-1 series victory at Vanderbilt. In Friday's series-opener, a 7-6 Ole Miss win, Voltz tied a school record with three home runs while also tying a career-high for hits in a 4-for-4 performance at the plate. On Sunday, Voltz hit two more home runs, including a three-run shot, in going 2-for-3 with a career-high four RBIs.

"This is a great honor for Jude and he's very deserving after the weekend he had," said third-year Ole Miss head coach Pat Harrison. "He's an outstanding hitter that can hit for a high average and has good power."

For the week, Voltz was 9-for-16 with five home runs and 11 RBIs in four games as he went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs against Mississippi State in the Mayor's Trophy game last Wednesday in Jackson.

Voltz for the season is hitting .317 with eight home runs and 23 RBIs while appearing in all 30 games and making 28 starts.

Also being selected as Louisville Slugger National Players of the Week were: Butler right-hander Steve Magill, Ball State first baseman Matt Wood, McNeese State first baseman Ben Broussard and UCLA outfielder Bill Scott.

Arkansas right-hander David Walling was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week after throwing seven hitless innings and striking out eight in the Razorbacks' 8-1 win over Florida Friday night.
