Barnett 10th in Heptathlon at Alabama Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Lady Rebel sophomore Brandy Barnett finished in 10th place in the heptathlon in second-day action at the Alabama Relays on Friday. Barnett placed 10th with a total of 4,288 points. In men's action, senior Calvin Thigpen placed 15th in the 10,000-meter run.

Barnett's total of 4,288 points is the fifth highest total in Lady Rebel history. Barnett, who was in the 10th spot following Thursday's action, recorded marks of 17-11 in the long jump, 102-3 in the javelin and 3:04.82 in the 800-meter run. Barnett's 17-11 mark in the long jump was fourth best in the competition.

Pittsburgh's Trecia Smith won the heptathlon with a total of 5,692 points.

On the men's side, Thigpen placed 15th in the 10,000 meters with a time of 32:22.01. Thigpen's time was his personal best.

The Alabama Relays continue on Saturday.
