Recap

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Ole Miss freshman Burney Hutchinson's two-RBI triple in the top of the ninth inning helped lead the No. 26 Rebels to a 7-6 non-conference baseball victory over Austin Peay. Freshman lefthander Nathan Lyons sealed the victory for the Rebels in the ninth, striking out Brett Haake to end the Governors' rally.

With the victory, Ole Miss improved its record to 28-19. Austin Peay fell to 24-19.

After Austin Peay tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth, the Rebels rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth to take a 7-4 lead. Justin Huisman began the Ole Miss rally with a one-out walk. After a John Massey groundout moved Huisman to second, Michael Rosamond got on with a walk, setting up Hutchinson's heroics. Hutchinson's triple plated both Huisman and Rosamond, and after a throwing error on the same play by the Governors, Hutchinson also scored to give Ole Miss a three-run lead.

Austin Peay, however, responded with a rally in the bottom of the ninth. Buddy Dubois led off the ninth with a double, and then Ben Fuller reached on a walk. After Joey Cramblitt struck out the second Governor of the ninth, a Greg Troy single scored Dubois. Jeff Sayre then followed with an-RBI double which plated Fuller, pulling Austin Peay to within one at 7-6. Lyons halted the Governors' rally when he struck out Haake to end the game.

Chad Hill led Ole Miss at the plate with a 3-for-5 performance. Brad Henderson, Rosamond and Hutchinson each had two hits apiece. Hutchinson also had three RBI. Sayre led the Austin Peay offense, going 3-for-4 with 2 RBI. Dubois also went 3-for-4.

Cramblitt (4-2) picked up his fourth victory of the season, going 1 1/3 innings. Lyons picked up his first save. Jason Lazaris (4-2) suffered the loss for Austin Peay.

The Rebels return to action this weekend when they host Alabama in a Southeastern Conference three-game series.
