Cross Country Teams Attend Samford Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Sophomores Larry Henderson and Chad Dixon both posted top 30 finishes in leading the Ole Miss men's cross country team to a sixth-place showing at the Samford Invitational on Saturday. Freshman Lauren Beaulieu placed 65th as the top finisher for the Lady Rebel squad, which was 16th.
Henderson finished the 8K course in 14th place with a time of 25:38.90, while Dixon was 26th with a time of 26:04.20. Other Rebels scoring in the meet were Gordon Fisher in 33rd place (26:12.60), Thomas Blackwell in 54th place (27:07.00) and Calvin Thigpen in 55th place (27:08.00).
In the 5K women's race, Beaulieu was Ole Miss' highest finisher in 65th place with a time of 19:54.6. Freshman Kelly Gable placed right behind Beaulieu in the 66th spot in a time of 19:55.9, while Daya Hampton was 94th with a time of 20:49.8. Leah White (21:05.0) and Chika Chuku (21:21.4) also were among the Lady Rebels' top five finishers, placing 102 and 104, respectively.
Western Kentucky won the men's team title with 51 points, while South Florida took the women's title with 23 points. Troy State's Michael Green took top individual honors in the men's race with a time of 24:43.40. On the women's side, Minna Rasimus of South Florida placed first in a time of 17:05.3.
