OXFORD, Miss. - After being hospitalized for almost two weeks at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi, Ole Miss head football coach David Cutcliffe returned to work Monday morning.
Cutcliffe, who underwent surgery last Wednesday to remove his gallbladder, was dismissed from the hospital around mid-day Saturday. He is expected to remain on a limited work schedule until he regains full strength.
"I appreciate all the warm wishes and prayers," Cutcliffe said. "I also appreciate our staff and the job they've done during my absence. I look forward to getting better day to day."
The majority of Cutcliffe's recent hospitalization dealt with his recovery from a bout of pancreatitis. He was recently diagnosed with a chronic dysfunction of his gallbladder, which was then removed laparoscopically.
Cutcliffe was first hospitalized in Knoxville, Tenn., with pancreatitis prior to the Rebels' Independence Bowl game last December. He rejoined the team in Shreveport, La., in time to lead Ole Miss to a 35-18 victory over Texas Tech, which was one of the major upsets of the bowl season.
