Goodwin Signs Baseball Letter of Intent

OXFORD, Miss. -- Right-handed pitcher Ronnie Goodwin has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball at Ole Miss, head coach Pat Harrison announced Monday.

Goodwin played last spring at West Arkansas Community College in Ft. Smith, Ark., and will have three years of eligibility left at Ole Miss. He posted a 5-5 record last spring at WestArk with a 3.50 ERA and struck out 56 in 72 innings of action.

"We're very pleased that Ronnie has decided to attend Ole Miss," Harrison said. "We feel he has the capability to make a contribution for us right away."

A native of Sherwood, Ark., Goodwin played high school ball at North Little Rock High School. He went 9-2 his senior year in 1997 with a 1.10 ERA and fanned 78 in 55 innings. Goodwin was also selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 1997 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.
