BOSTON - Ole Miss senior-to-be outfielder Bobby Kielty is leading the Cape Cod Baseball League in hitting with a .376 average, and has been selected to play for the Eastern Division All-Stars in the CCBL's All-Star game on Saturday, Aug. 1.

The Cape Cod League uses wooden bats and annually features some of the country's top collegiate players.

Kielty, playing for the Brewster Whitecaps, also leads the league in RBIs with 27; is third in home runs with four; and ranks in the top three in hits with 39.

Kielty, a 6-1, 210-pound switch-hitter, transferred to Ole Miss last year after two years at Riverside Junior College in California. He batted .307 with 16 home runs and 49 RBIs in 53 games for the Rebels this past spring.

Brewster, which also has the Rebels' Michael Rosamond on its roster, is currently leading the Eastern Division with a 20-11-1 record.

Other Rebels of note playing in summer leagues across the country include right-handed pitcher Dan McShea and outfielder Chad Hill. McShea, a junior-to-be, is 4-0 on the year with a 1.80 ERA for the Ithaca Lakers of the Northeastern Collegiate League. He is tied for the league lead in wins and pitched an inning of scoreless relief in the league's all-star contest earlier this month. Hill is among the league leaders in several categories for the Quincy Gems of the Central Illinois Collegiate League. Hill leads the CICL in stolen bases with 29, and is third in runs scored, 36, and in RBIs with 27. Hill has helped the Gems clinch the Western Division title with a 34-9 mark through Wednesday.
