Lady Rebel Golfers to Participate in River Wilderness Invitational

OXFORD, Miss.--The Ole Miss women's golf team will compete in the River Wilderness Invitational March 23-24 in Parrish, Fla., at River Wilderness Golf Club.
The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. The tournament, hosted by South Florida, includes Southern Mississippi, Purdue, Florida Atlantic, Lamar, Kentucky, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Miami, Tulane, Arkansas-Little Rock and South Alabama.
Ole Miss is led by junior Megan Breen of Longwood, Fla., with a 76.52 stroke average, and senior Lauren Mellen of Orlando, Fla., with a 76.82. Robyn Rinaldo, a sophomore from Dade City, Fla., is third on the team with a 78.30.
The Lady Rebels have six top five finishes this year, tying the record set in the 1989-90 season, and have finished in the top 10 in every tournament this season. Ole Miss is coming off a ninth-place performance at the LSU-Fairwood Invitational March 13-15.
"We are excited about playing in this tournament," Ole Miss head coach Keil Purdom said. "I am proud of the way we have played this year. We have been working hard, and it has paid off. Since this is our last tournament before the SEC Championships, I expect the team to play well."
Ole Miss last participated in the River Wilderness Invitational in 1996. The Lady Rebels tied for third place with a 312-302-318--932 and were led by Megan Breen, who tied for fifth with a 72-73-82--227.
