Men's Track and Field Posts Six Top 10 Finishes

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Lady Rebel sophomore Teneeshia Jones posted three top-six finishes, including setting the school record in the 100 meters, and senior Bernie Kuria had a second-place showing in the 5000 meters to lead the Ole Miss effort at the Alabama Relays on Saturday.
Jones, who set the school record in the 100 meters with a time of 11.57 seconds last week at the LSU-SEC Quad Meet, broke her own record in the event at the Alabama Relays. Jones won the 100 meters in a time of 11.47 seconds, which also provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Jones placed third in the 200 meters (23.97) and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.13).
Brandy Mack also provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with her first-place time in the 400-meter hurdles. Mack won the event with a time of 58.80 seconds. Other top-10 finishes for Ole Miss were Candice Cattron in the 200 meters (24.67) and Chika Chuku in the 800 meters (2:10.54).
On the men's side, Kuria led the Rebels with a second-place finish in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:15.01. Three Rebels posted third-place showings with Alonzo Banks in the 800 meters (1:49.82), Wayne Woolery in the 400-meter hurdles (51.95) and Brandon Saxon in the pole vault (15-9). Other top-10 finishes for the men's squad were Chad Dixon, who placed sixth in the 3000-meter steeplechase (9:17.84) and Savante Stringfellow, who was seventh in the long jump (24-5 3/4).
The Alabama Relays will conclude on Sunday.
