Men's Track and Field Wins Ole Miss Invitational

OXFORD, Miss. - Rebel sophomore Savante Stringfellow won the long and high jumps and also ran a leg on the first-place 4x400 meter relay team to lead the Ole Miss men's track and field team to a first-place finish at the Ole Miss Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Teneeshia Jones won three events to lead the Lady Rebels to a second-place finish in the women's competition.

Ole Miss won the men's meet with a total of 155 points. Arkansas State was second with 127 points, followed by Mississippi State in third with 103 points. On the women's side, Mississippi State won the meet with a total of 175.5 points. The Lady Rebels were second with 105.5 points, with Louisiana Tech in third with 96 points.

Stringfellow won the high jump with a mark of 7-0 1/4 and the long jump with a mark of 25-8 1/4. He also ran a leg on the Ole Miss 4x400 meter relay team which placed first with a time of 3:06.80. Jimmy Love, Alonzo Banks and Wayne Woollery were the other members of the Rebels' 4x400 meter relay team.

Other first-place finishers for the Rebels were Banks in the 400 meters (45.92 seconds), Chad Dixon in the 3000-meter steeplechase (9:51.85), Bernie Kuria in the 5000 meters (14:58.70), Woollery in the 400-meter hurdles (51.58), and Marcus Jones in the triple jump (52-1 3/4).

In the women's meet, Jones led the Lady Rebel effort with first-place finishes in the 100 meters (11.48), 200 meters (23.79) and 100-meter hurdles (13.55). Jones' times in the 100 meters and 100-meter hurdles set new meet and stadium records.

Other first-place finishers for the Ole Miss women's team were Chika Chuku in the 800 meters (2:09.40), Brandy Mack in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.23), Brandy Barnett in the high jump (5-8), and the 4x400 meter relay (3:45.07).
