Ole Miss' Kielty Wins Cape Cod League MVP Award

BOSTON - Ole Miss outfielder Bobby Kielty was named the Cape Cod League's Most Valuable Player on Friday. Kielty, playing this summer for the Brewster Whitecaps, was presented with the league's MVP and Batting Champion awards prior to Brewster's playoff game against Chatham.

Kielty had a terrific summer, winning the league's batting title with a .384 average and leading the league in RBIs with 45. He also just missed winning the triple crown, finishing tied for third in home runs with six, one behind Stanford University's Edmund Muth and Texas A&M's Daylan Holt.

Brewster manager Billy Mosiello was also named the Cape Cod League's Manager of the Year on Friday.

Rebel outfielder Michael Rosamond and right-handed pitcher Jeff McAvoy also are playing for Brewster this summer. The Whitecaps finished the regular season with a 26-16-1 record and was the Eastern Division regular season champions.

Brewster dropped the first game of its best-of-three series against Chatham, 3-2. McAvoy started the game for the Whitecaps and allowed two runs on four hits in seven innings of work.
