OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's basketball team completed exhibition play for the 1998-99 season, with a 87-49 win over the Mississippi All-Stars Thursday at Tad Smith Coliseum. They will now get ready to open the regular season Monday Nov. 16 at home against Clemson at 5:00 p.m.

"We showed some spurts tonight, but we didn't play as hard as we are going to have to play in the regular season," head coach Ron Aldy said. "The team we're opening the regular season with is like an SEC team. We are going to have to play 40 minutes of good basketball to have a chance to win."

The Lady Rebels were led by four players in doubles figures. Senior Tarsha Bethley had 15 points, sophomore Becky Myatt scored 13 on 4-of-6 from the field including 3-of-4 from three-point range. Newcomer Frankie Boyd added 12 points and also pulled down nine rebounds. Junior Sinissia Wysinger led the Lady Rebels in rebounding with 14 boards.

Tina Webb led the Mississippi All-Stars on the night with 15 points and nine rebounds. Nicole Stovall chipped in 14 points in the losing cause.

Ole Miss shot 42.9 percent from the floor and 31.3 percent from three-point land, while the All-Stars shot just 20.8 percent from the field. The Lady Rebels outrebounded the All-Stars 69-23.

The Lady Rebels will face a Clemson team on Monday, that finished the 1997-98 season at 25-8 overall, 12-4 in the ACC (second). The Lady Tigers advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and were ranked 14th in the final Associated Press poll.
