Parker, Barnett Win Events at Friday's Razorback Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Junior Tisha Parker won the long jump and sophomore Brandy Barnett captured the high jump to lead the Ole Miss women at Friday's Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. On the men's side, sophomore Savante' Stringfellow led the Rebels with a second-place finish in the long jump and a third-place showing in the high jump.

Parker, who provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the long jump on Dec. 6 at Arkansas State, won the long jump with a leap of 19-feet-9. Parker also finished third in the long jump with a mark of 38-1.75. Sophomore Monica Barnett finished eighth in the triple jump, recording a mark of 35-5.

Brandy Barnett won the high jump with a jump of 5-7.25, while junior Daya Hampton finished sixth for the Lady Rebels with a leap of 5-3.375.

Other standout performances for the Lady Rebels included sophomore Teneeshia Jones finishing second in the 60-meter dash (7.62) and third in the 200 meters (25.06). Freshman Wanikka Vance recorded fourth-place finishes in the 60-meter dash (7.71) and 200 meters (25.28). Freshman Dawn Dickerson also placed seventh in the 60 meters, as the Lady Rebels placed three in the top eight, running a time of 7.82 in the finals. However, Dickerson qualified for the finals with a time of 7.44.

Freshman Candice Cattron placed sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 57.84, followed by sophomore Brandy Mack in eighth with a time of 58.52. Freshmen Chika Chuku and Tiffany Smith placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 800 meters. Chuku finished with a time of 2:22.17 and Smith with a time of 2:22.29.

On the men's side, freshman Savante'Stringfellow jumped 23-11.75 in the long jump to place second and finished third in the long jump with a mark of 6-11.5. Stringfellow provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the long jump back on Dec. 6.

Senior Marcus Jones finished sixth behind Stringfellow in the high jump with a mark of 6- 9.875 and also recorded a third-place showing in the triple jump with a leap of 46-10.5.

In the 800 meters, senior Alonzo Banks ran a time of 1:51.61 to finish third and fellow senior Wayne Woollery placed seventh with a time of 1:55.85. Senior Jimmy Love placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 49.21, followed by sophomore Aaron Fenzel in eighth with a mark of 50.07.

Ole Miss also won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:15.53.

The Rebels and Lady Rebels will next compete on Saturday, Jan. 23 at LSU.
