OXFORD, Miss. - Pitching dominated Ole Miss' first intra-squad of the fall, held Wednesday afternoon at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
Six pitchers combined to hold the Rebel hitters to just three hits in the five-inning contest. Chad Hill's RBI single in the third provided the only scoring in the game as the Blue defeated the White 1-0.
Freshmen pitchers Clint Farrar and Glen Morris both had solid outing, throwing two hitless innings each and sophomore right-hander Justin Huisman also pitched a scoreless inning of relief and didn't allow a hit.
"We looked a some of our young pitchers today," said third-year head coach Pat Harrison. "As expected, the pitching is ahead of the hitting at this point, but I thought our pitchers did a good job today."
Besides Hill, the only other Rebels to record a hit were senior second baseman Brad Henderson and redshirt freshman catcher Brandon Skelton. Henderson doubled in his first at-bat.
Ole Miss will hold a second intra-squad scrimmage Thursday, starting at approximately 4:00 p.m. at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. The Rebels will also scrimmage Friday night starting at 6:30 p.m.
