Rebel 4x400-Meter Relay Team Places Sixth

ATLANTA, Ga. - Ole Miss sophomore Teneeshia Jones finished fourth in the 200 meters and provisionally qualified for next weekend's NCAA Indoor Championships Saturday night at the USATF Indoor Championships.

Jones provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with a time of 23.83 in Friday's 200-meter preliminaries, and finished with a time of 24.04 in Saturday's finals. She also competed in the 60-meter dash, advancing to the semi-finals before failing to qualify for the finals. Jones, did however, turn in a personal-best time of 7.47 in the semi-finals.

The Rebels' 4x400-meter relay team of Wayne Woollery, Savante' Stringfellow, Jimmy Love and Alonzo Banks finished sixth with a time of 3:11.90.

Junior Tisha Parker placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 20-feet-2.25.

Other Ole Miss athletes competing at the USATF Championships, Banks finished ninth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:50.58. Freshman Dawn Dickerson failed to qualify in the 60- meter dash with a time of 7.70, and sophomore Savante' Stringfellow placed 10th in the long jump with a leap of 23-9.5.

Ole Miss also had several athletes competing in meets at Iowa State and LSU in a final attempt to qualify for next weekend's NCAA meet.

At LSU on Friday, senior Marcus Jones hit the NCAA provisional mark in the triple jump with a leap of 51-6.25.

At the Cyclone Last Chance National Track & Field Qualifier meet on Saturday, sophomore Larry Henderson turned in a time of 1:51.57 in the 800 meters to finish 12th, and senior Bernard Kuria placed third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:34.22. Both, however, failed to reach the NCAA provisional standard for their respective event.
