Rebel Baseball Team Defeats Northeast Louisiana 8-7

MONROE, La. - Ole Miss scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat Northeast Louisiana 8-7 Tuesday night. The Rebels improved to 8-11 overall, while Northeast Louisiana fell to 13-7.
Ole Miss trailed 7-5 going into the ninth inning. Justin Huisman and Alex Williamson both hit singles, and the Rebels had baserunners at first and second. Brad Henderson's single scored Huisman to make the score 7-6. Jude Voltz then hit a two-run double to give Ole Miss the 8-7 lead.
Huisman came on to pitch in the bottom of the ninth to pick up his fifth save of the year. Cooper Campbell improved to 1-1 on the year as he pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing no hits or walks while striking out three.
Northeast Louisiana's Kevin Orga suffered the loss, pitching eight innings and allowing eight runs, six earned runs, eight hits and three walks while striking out eight. The Indians were led at the plate by Josh LaRue, who went 2-for-4.
Eight different Ole Miss players had at least one hit in the game, led by Huisman's 2-for- 3 night at the plate. Chad Mead hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning, and Carl Lafferty hit a solo home run in the seventh. Ole Miss took advantage of four Indian errors, and Henderson scored the winning run on an error.
The Rebels trailed 5-2 and 7-4 in the game. It was the first time this season that Ole Miss rallied after seven innings to win, as the Rebels were 0-11 when trailing after seven innings. The game concluded the Rebels' seven-game road trip.
Ole Miss returns to action Wednesday as the Rebels host Morehead State at 3 p.m. at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
