Rebels Fall 8-2 to South Carolina Saturday.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Four hits by Bryan Roberts, including two doubles and a home run, led a 16 hit South Carolina attack Saturday as the Gamecocks downed Ole Miss 8-2 to take a 2-0 lead in a Southeastern Conference baseball series.
The final game is scheduled for 1 p.m., EST, Sunday. South Carolina improved its record to 15-4, 2-0 in the SEC. The Rebels lost their sixth consecutive game to drop to 6-11, 0-2. Randy Hadden, 4-0, pitched 8 2/3 innings to earn the win with Ole Miss starter Joey Cramblitt, 2-1, taking the loss. Hadden gave up a first inning run when Brad Henderson and Chad Mead, the first two Rebel hitters, singled with Henderson scoring on a sacrifice fly by Glen Morris. Hadden then shut the Rebels out until the ninth inning when doubles by Morris and John Massey produced the second Rebel run. Jason Pomar relieved Hadden and struck out Chad Hill to end the game. Roberts doubled in the third and fifth innings and scored each time on singles by Nate Janowicz. Roberts hit his third home run of the season in the sixth inning and singled in the eighth. South Carolina scored five times in the fifth inning.
Third baseman Bryon Jeffcoat had three hits for South Carolina with Janowicz, Adam Poe and Shane Nelson each getting two. One of Poe's hits was a double. Janowicz and Mic Knox each drove in two runs. Ole Miss collected eight hits off Hadden, two each by Henderson and Massey. Both of Massey's hits were doubles.
