TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Rebel junior Kyle Wallace won the pole vault, and two Lady Rebel relay teams set school records to pace the Ole Miss effort in the final day of competition at the Alabama Relays on Sunday.
Wallace won the pole vault competition with a mark of 16-10 3/4, which is his personal best. Wallace's mark of 16-10 3/4 is also the second best mark in the pole vault in Rebel history. Other individuals competing for the Rebels on Sunday were Savante Stringfellow, who placed fifth in the high jump (6-11 3/4) and Marcus Jones, who finished 10th in both the high (6-8) and triple (49-0) jumps.
The Rebel 4x400 meter relay team recorded the squad's highest finish in the relays, placing second in the event with a time of 3:05.37. The time provisionally qualified the Rebels for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the event. The men's 4x200 meter relay team placed fifth with a time of 1:24.78, while distance medley relay finished eighth in a time of 10:11.97.
The Lady Rebel relay teams set two school records on Sunday. The 4x100 meter relay squad placed third in a school-record time of 45.10 seconds, breaking the previous record of 45.64 seconds set in 1997. The time of 45.10 seconds also provisionally qualified the 4x100 meter relay team for the NCAA Championships. The women's 4x800 meter relay team set a school record with a time of 9:03.75, finishing fourth in the event. The team's time of 9:03.75 broke the previous mark of 9:13.22 set in 1997.
The Lady Rebel 4x400 meter relay team placed fourth with a time of 3:43.79, while sophomore Monica Barnett was 19th in the triple jump (36-8).
